Dokumentscanner Brother DS-740D

The Brother DS-740D is a compact sheet-fed portable scanner designed to capture two-sided documents, receipts and ID cards with a maximum scan width up to A4. It offers an optical resolution of 600 x 600 dpi (enhanced to 1200 x 1200 dpi), supports plastic cards up to 1.24 mm thick and connects via USB 3.2 Gen 1. Its unique roller feed returns the document to the user without requiring extra space behind the unit, making it suitable for use on the road or in tight workspaces.

Advantages

Two-sided (duplex) scanning in a small, lightweight body enables fast capture of double-sided documents without manual refeeding. The DS-740D supports a range of media including business cards and ID cards, operates quietly (approx. 53 dB) and provides versatile driver support (TWAIN, WIA) for direct scanning to file, image or email. Its roller feed design removes the need for rear clearance and returns the document smoothly to the user.

How to use

Connect the DS-740D to a computer using the supplied USB cable and install the appropriate driver (TWAIN or WIA) for your operating system. Place the document in the feed slot; the roller system will guide the sheet over the top and return it to you after scanning. Select duplex or single-sided scanning in the driver or application, choose desired resolution and output (file, image or email), then start the scan. For plastic cards, align the card and scan using the dedicated card handling guidance in the software.

Recommendations

To maintain reliable feeding and image quality, clean the rollers periodically according to the user manual and avoid scanning severely wrinkled or wet documents. Use the recommended drivers for best compatibility and verify card thickness does not exceed 1.24 mm.
