ACT 1x2 DisplayPort 1.4 MST-splitter

The ACT 1x2 DisplayPort 1.4 MST Splitter (AC7720) splits a single DisplayPort source to two DisplayPort outputs, supporting both Single Stream Transport (SST) for mirrored displays and Multi Stream Transport (MST) for an extended desktop. With a total bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps, the unit can deliver up to 8K@30Hz in SST mode or up to 4K@60Hz per display in MST mode depending on source capability. The splitter includes EDID auto negotiation, support for Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DP++), a screw-locked power connector to prevent accidental disconnection, detachable mounting brackets for flexible installation, and 5.1 channel audio support.

Advantages

The splitter offers flexible display configurations—mirror or extend—while preserving high resolutions and color fidelity thanks to DisplayPort 1.4 and DSC 1.2 support. EDID negotiation simplifies compatibility with a variety of source devices and monitors. Physical features such as a secured power jack and removable mounting brackets make the device suitable for both desktop and fixed installations.

Suitable for

When it may not be suitable

The maximum per-display resolution and refresh rate depend on the total bandwidth available from the source and the number of chained displays; not all source devices will support 4K@60Hz per display in MST mode. The splitter uses DisplayPort connections; to connect HDMI or DVI displays you must use a passive DP-to-HDMI/DVI adapter and ensure the source supports Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DP++).

How to use

Connect the DisplayPort output of your source device to the splitter input, then connect up to two DisplayPort monitors to the splitter outputs. Select SST mode to mirror the same image on both displays or MST mode to extend the desktop across both screens using the mode switch. If you need to connect an HDMI or DVI monitor, use a passive DisplayPort-to-HDMI/DVI adapter and ensure your source supports DP++. Secure the power cable using the screw-lock connector and mount the splitter using the detachable brackets if required. If chaining additional DisplayPort monitors, connect them via the splitter’s daisy-chain output and be aware that available bandwidth will be shared among displays.

Recommendations

For best results with extended desktop (MST), use a source with DisplayPort 1.4 output and sufficient bandwidth; when mirroring high-resolution content, switch to SST mode to achieve up to 8K@30Hz. Ensure cables and adapters are certified for DisplayPort 1.4 to maintain signal integrity.
