ACT fiber SC-SC simplex-adapter multimode OM4

The ACT Fiber optic SC-SC simplex adapter multimode OM4 is a compact coupling device engineered for linking two SC-terminated multimode OM4 fibers. Supplied in a distinctive pink color for easy identification, the adapter provides a stable physical connection between SC connectors while maintaining optical alignment and low insertion loss. It is packaged as a single adapter per pack and is intended for indoor fiber patching and panel installations where OM4 multimode performance is required.

Advantages

The adapter offers precise ceramic alignment sleeves to ensure repeatable connector mating and low signal attenuation. Its SC simplex form factor saves rack space and simplifies port-to-port connections. The colored housing aids rapid identification of OM4 links within complex cabling environments. The construction supports secure locking of SC connectors to prevent accidental disconnection and maintains mechanical stability in standard patching environments.

Suitable for

• Indoor fiber patch panels and wall boxes
• Multimode OM4 backbone and horizontal links
• Data centers and server room patching
• Telecommunications closets and LAN infrastructure

Key specifications

• Connector type: SC simplex to SC simplex
• Mode: Multimode (OM4)
• Body color: Pink for OM4 identification
• Sleeve material: Ceramic alignment sleeve for low insertion loss
• Mounting: Simplex adapter footprint for panel or coupler mounting
• Pack quantity: 1 adapter per pack

How to use

Insert the SC connector ferrules into each side of the adapter until the connectors click into place, ensuring the connector keys align with the housing orientation. Verify proper seating by gently tugging the cable; the connectors should remain locked. For patch panel installation, fit the adapter into the panel cutout or cassette designed for SC simplex adapters and secure according to the panel manufacturer’s instructions. Clean connector end faces before mating to minimize insertion loss and back reflections.

Recommendations

Use appropriate fiber cleaning tools and inspection equipment prior to connection. Avoid bending the fiber beyond its minimum bend radius near the adapter and protect the adapter from dust when not in use by replacing protective caps. For critical links, perform insertion loss and return loss measurements after installation to confirm link performance meets OM4 multimode specifications.
