Bevægelsessensor Steinel 608811 — PIR-tilstedeværelsessensor, sort, IP54

Steinel 608811 is a passive infrared (PIR) presence detector designed to control lighting automatically when movement is detected. Housed in a matte black enclosure with IP54 splash protection, the unit is intended for indoor areas and sheltered outdoor locations where protection against dust and water splashes is required. The sensor evaluates changes in infrared radiation to determine presence and sends a switch signal to connected lighting circuits, supporting improved convenience and more efficient energy use in homes, offices, stairwells and similar spaces.

Advantages

The device combines PIR presence detection with a compact, weather-resistant housing that withstands splashes and light dust. Its black finish integrates with common interior and exterior fixtures. The sensor provides automatic ON/OFF switching based on detected movement, reducing unnecessary operating hours of lighting. Designed for straightforward installation and reliable operation, it supports steady detection sensitivity and stable performance in typical ambient conditions.

Suitable for

• Residential entryways and corridors
• Commercial hallways and stairwells
• Garages and covered outdoor walkways
• Service rooms and utility areas

Key specifications

• Detection type: Passive infrared (PIR) presence detection
• Protection class: IP54 — splash and dust protected
• Color: Black housing
• Typical mounting: Wall or ceiling mounting in sheltered locations
• Function: Automatic switching of lighting based on motion/presence

How to use

Install the sensor at a location with a clear view of the monitored area, avoiding direct exposure to weather beyond sheltered conditions. Connect the sensor into the lighting circuit according to the installation instructions supplied by the manufacturer and observe local electrical regulations. Adjust mounting height and orientation to match the expected movement patterns so the PIR element covers the required detection zone. After power-up, test the sensor by walking through the detection area to confirm reliable switching and correct coverage.

Recommendations

Position the unit to avoid direct sunlight or heat sources in the detection field, and keep it away from moving objects such as fans or foliage that could cause false triggers. For sheltered outdoor installations, ensure the housing faces the area to be monitored and verify the IP54 rating is sufficient for the specific environment. Periodically clean the housing to maintain sensor sensitivity and check electrical connections for safety and continued reliable operation.
