Optisk dæmper CBO SFA21BK8 singlemode LC simplex 8 dB

Inline optical attenuator BlueOptics SFA21BK8 is a compact, fixed 8 dB attenuation device for singlemode fiber networks with an LC simplex connector. It reduces optical power travelling through the fiber to prevent receiver overload, to balance channel power levels or to meet link budget requirements. The plug-and-play design allows insertion directly into LC ports without additional adapters, making it suitable for use in telecom and datacom installations, field testing and lab environments.

Advantages

The attenuator provides a stable, fixed attenuation value of 8 dB with a small footprint and low insertion loss characteristic besides the specified attenuation. Its LC simplex connector ensures compatibility with standard singlemode patch cords and transceivers. The device is passive, requiring no power, and preserves signal integrity while protecting sensitive receivers from excessive optical power. The compact construction simplifies installation in patch panels, wall outlets or directly on equipment.

Suitable for

• Reducing optical power to prevent receiver overload in singlemode links
• Adjusting link budgets during installation or upgrades
• Field testing and temporary attenuation during commissioning
• Compatibility testing with transceivers and active equipment

Key specifications

• Fiber type: singlemode
• Connector type: LC simplex
• Attenuation: fixed 8 dB
• Form factor: inline plug-and-play
• Operation: passive, no external power required
• Typical use: telecom, datacom, testing and installation

How to use

Insert the LC simplex connector of the attenuator into the LC port of the transmitting or receiving device, or place it inline between two LC patch cords. Ensure connectors and ports are clean before mating to avoid contamination and higher insertion loss. Once connected, the device provides a fixed 8 dB reduction of optical power; no configuration or power is required. When removing or storing the attenuator, protect connector endfaces with dust caps.

Recommendations

Verify required attenuation levels and transceiver receiver sensitivity before deployment. Use in-line attenuators with matching fiber type and connector polarity. Clean connectors with an appropriate fiber cleaning tool before insertion and avoid bending the fiber near the connector to maintain optimal performance.
