Fiberkabel Helos 2m OM3 LC/SC

The Helos 2m OM3 LC/SC fibre optic cable is a multimode patch cable designed for high-speed data transmission over short to medium distances. With a 50 µm core diameter and OM3 performance rating, this 2-metre cable supports full duplex communication and combines an LC connector at one end with an SC connector at the other for compatibility with a wide range of network equipment and transceivers. It is intended for use in structured cabling, patch panels and interconnects where low insertion loss and controlled modal bandwidth are required.

Advantages

The OM3 classification ensures higher bandwidth and improved modal dispersion compared to lower-grade multimode fibres, enabling reliable 10 Gbps and higher applications within the specified distance limits. The LC/SC connector pairing provides a compact LC interface for transceivers and a robust SC interface for patch panels or legacy equipment. A 2 metre length offers flexible routing in racks and cabinets while limiting excess slack, and the multimode 50 µm core is compatible with common multimode transceiver types.

Suitable for

• Data centre patching between switches, transceivers and patch panels
• High-speed LAN interconnects (10 Gbps and suitable multimode links)
• Server room short-run connections and equipment interlinks
• Telecom racks and structured cabling backbones within buildings

Key specifications

• Fiber type: OM3 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Length: 2 metres
• Connector A: LC (single or duplex depending on assembly)
• Connector B: SC
• Transmission: full duplex
• Typical use: patch cable for racks, panels and equipment

How to use

Connect the LC end to the LC-compatible transceiver or equipment port and the SC end to the SC adapter in a patch panel or device. Ensure connectors are clean before mating to minimize insertion loss and protect fibre endfaces with dust caps when not in use. Route the cable using gentle bends that respect the minimum bend radius and secure it in cable organizers or tie points to avoid strain. For duplex links verify polarity and mating with the corresponding transmit/receive ports.

Recommendations

Use appropriate cleaning tools or alcohol wipes for connector endfaces, avoid exceeding the cable's recommended bend radius, and store unused cables in a dust-free environment. Confirm compatibility of OM3 multimode fibre with your transceivers and distance requirements before deployment to ensure expected performance.
