Håndsav Stanley 2-15-289

The Stanley 2-15-289 hand saw is a precision cutting tool engineered for general woodworking tasks. With an overall blade width of 670 mm and a blade height of 140 mm, the tool balances cutting capacity and maneuverability. Weighing approximately 490 g, the saw is designed to be lightweight for extended use while maintaining the rigidity needed for straight, controlled cuts. The construction and tooth geometry are intended to deliver clean results across soft and hard wood tasks commonly encountered in carpentry and home projects.

Advantages

This hand saw combines a long cutting length with a narrow blade profile to provide both reach and control during crosscuts and rip cuts. Its reduced weight reduces user fatigue during prolonged use, while the blade height supports stable cutting angles. The saw's build emphasizes durability and consistent tooth performance, reducing the need for frequent re-sharpening or replacement under typical use conditions.

Suitable for

• Crosscutting and ripping of dimensional lumber
• On-site carpentry and framing adjustments
• DIY furniture making and trim work
• Workshop and hobby woodworking projects

Key specifications

• Blade width: 670 mm
• Blade height: 140 mm
• Weight: 490 g
• Tool type: hand saw for general woodworking
• Intended materials: softwood and hardwood

How to use

Hold the saw with a comfortable, firm grip and establish a clear start line on the workpiece. Position the blade at the desired cutting angle and begin with light forward strokes to create a kerf, then increase stroke length and pressure to complete the cut. Maintain a steady rhythm and allow the teeth to do the cutting rather than forcing the blade. Support long boards to prevent binding and ensure straight, stable cuts by keeping the saw aligned with the intended cut line.

Recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves. For best results, secure the workpiece in a vise or with clamps, periodically check tooth condition, and store the saw in a dry place to avoid corrosion. Match cutting technique to the wood type: slower, controlled strokes for hardwoods and more aggressive strokes for softwoods.
