HDD-kabinet Inter-Tech ST-5255 sort 2,5/3,5 inch

The Inter-Tech ST-5255 Black 2.5/3.5" HDD enclosure is a multi-bay storage chassis designed to accommodate up to five 2.5" or 3.5" drives. It accepts both SAS and SATA generation drives, supporting transfer rates up to 6 Gbit/s and offering hardware RAID functionality with multiple RAID levels. The enclosure combines plastic and aluminium construction in a black finish to provide a compact, rack- or desktop-friendly solution for centralized drive housing and hot-swap maintenance.

Advantages

The enclosure supports five drives and offers compatibility with SAS and SATA (I/II/III) interfaces, enabling flexible use of mixed drive types. Built-in RAID support for levels 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 provides options for balancing performance, redundancy and capacity. Hot-swap capability allows drives to be replaced without powering down the system, reducing downtime. The combination of plastic and aluminium in the housing keeps weight moderate while providing structural stability and heat dissipation.

Suitable for

• Small office or home servers requiring centralized multi-drive storage
• Backup and archival systems needing RAID configurations and redundancy
• Workstations or media servers that demand multiple high-capacity drives
• Environments where hot-swap drive replacement is needed to minimize downtime

How to use

Install 2.5" or 3.5" drives into the drive bays according to the manufacturer’s mounting guidance, ensuring proper seating and connection to the internal backplane. Connect the enclosure to a compatible host using the appropriate SAS or SATA connection and configure the RAID level through the enclosure's management interface or controller according to desired performance and redundancy. For hot-swap operations, follow safe drive removal procedures provided in the product manual to avoid data loss and ensure the system recognizes replacement drives automatically.

Recommendations

Place the enclosure in a well-ventilated location to maintain optimal operating temperatures, and use drives of the same type and capacity when configuring RAID arrays for predictable performance. Regularly verify RAID health and maintain backups of critical data despite redundancy. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for firmware updates and drive replacement to ensure continued compatibility and reliability.
