Kabel-Gender-Changer DeLOCK 62921

The DeLOCK 62921 Cable Gender Changer is an RS-232 DB9 adapter that allows you to convert between male and female DB9 connections. It provides galvanic isolation to protect connected devices such as computers, machines, controllers and measuring instruments from electromagnetic and electrostatic discharges as well as surges, while maintaining continuous data transmission even in the presence of earth/ground loops. The compact black adapter connects directly between two DB9 ports without requiring an external power supply.

Advantages

Provides complete galvanic isolation for RS-232 connections to prevent ground loop issues and to protect devices from electromagnetic and electrostatic discharges and surge events. Ensures uninterrupted serial communication and is simple to use as it plugs directly between two DB9 connectors. Compact, portable design suitable for use in field or lab environments.

Suitable for

• Connecting computers and legacy serial devices with incompatible DB9 genders
• Industrial equipment and machine controllers requiring isolated serial links
• Measurement instruments and lab devices sensitive to ground loops and interference
• Field service and maintenance tasks where a compact gender changer is needed

How to use

Connect the DeLOCK 62921 directly between the two DB9 ports you need to link, aligning the male and female connectors as required. Once plugged in, the adapter provides isolated RS-232 signaling without additional configuration or external power. Verify serial settings (baud rate, parity, stop bits) on the connected devices to ensure proper communication.

Recommendations

Use the adapter in environments where galvanic isolation is required to protect equipment from surges or ground loops. For reliable data transmission, ensure connectors are securely mated and keep cable lengths within recommended RS-232 limits. If extended distances or higher protection levels are required, consider using dedicated isolated serial converters or repeaters.
