TP-Link ER7406 kablet router Gigabit Ethernet sort

The TP-Link ER7406 wired router is a Gigabit Ethernet device designed for small office and home network environments. It implements core networking standards such as IEEE 802.1D and IEEE 802.3 and supports link speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s. The router combines secure connection algorithms including AES and SHA with 128 MB of flash memory and 512 MB of DDR4 RAM to provide stable routing, firewall and basic VPN functions while maintaining low power consumption (7.5 W) and a compact black enclosure.

Advantages

The ER7406 delivers Gigabit throughput on wired ports and supports modern Ethernet standards for compatibility with a wide range of switches and NICs. Security primitives such as AES and SHA help protect data integrity and confidentiality for site-to-site and client connections. With 512 MB of DDR4 RAM and 128 MB flash, the device handles concurrent sessions and routing tables efficiently for small business use. The low power draw and compact design make it suitable for installations where space and energy efficiency matter.

Suitable for

• Small office or home networks requiring wired Gigabit connectivity
• Firewall and basic VPN routing for branch locations
• Environments needing stable, low-power routing hardware
• Integration with existing switches and Ethernet infrastructures

Key specifications

• Network standard compliance: IEEE 802.1D, IEEE 802.3
• Supported data rates: 10 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s, 1000 Mbit/s
• Security algorithms: AES, SHA
• Memory: 512 MB DDR4 internal memory; 128 MB flash memory
• Power consumption: approximately 7.5 W

How to use

Place the router in a ventilated location close to your network cabling and connect the WAN and LAN ports to your modem and local switches or devices using Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables. Access the device management interface via a web browser on a connected PC using the default management IP address, then follow the on-screen steps to configure WAN settings, LAN subnet, firewall rules and any VPN tunnels. Apply firmware updates provided by the manufacturer and save configuration files to external storage for backup.

Recommendations

For reliable performance, use quality shielded or unshielded Cat5e/Cat6 cables, keep firmware up to date, and place the router in a cool, dust-free area. Regularly review firewall rules and backup configurations after changes to minimize downtime and maintain secure, stable wired connectivity.
