Fiberoptisk dæmper CBO SFA21BK7 singlemode 7 dB LC simplex

Inline optical fiber attenuator CBO SFA21BK7 Singlemode 7 dB LC Simplex is a fixed, precision optical attenuator designed for singlemode networks. The device provides 7 dB attenuation through an LC simplex connector in a compact housing suitable for rack-mounted patch panels or field installations. It is intended to reduce optical power to prevent receiver overload, balance link budgets, and support testing procedures in telecom and data center environments.

Advantages

The attenuator offers a stable, repeatable attenuation value of 7 dB in a small form factor compatible with LC simplex ports. Its passive design requires no power and ensures low insertion loss aside from the specified attenuation, while maintaining back reflection characteristics appropriate for singlemode links. The compact housing simplifies deployment in patch panels and field boxes, and the standardized LC interface provides broad compatibility with common singlemode transceivers and patch cords.

Suitable for

• Balancing optical link budgets in telecom and enterprise networks
• Preventing receiver saturation in high-power singlemode links
• Testing and measurement during installation and maintenance
• Use in data center patch panels and fiber distribution frames

Key specifications

• Attenuation: 7 dB fixed
• Fiber type: singlemode
• Connector: LC simplex
• Insertion loss: specified attenuation plus minimal additional loss
• Return loss: suitable for singlemode applications
• Form factor: compact inline housing for panel or field use
• Operating environment: designed for telecom and data center installations

How to use

Insert the LC simplex connector of the attenuator between the transmitting fiber and the receiving device or patch cord, ensuring clean connectors and proper alignment. The unit is passive and provides a fixed 7 dB reduction of optical power immediately upon insertion. Verify link performance after installation with appropriate test equipment and replace protective caps when the attenuator is not in use to prevent contamination.

Recommendations

Prior to installation, clean connector endfaces with appropriate fiber cleaning tools and inspect with a microscope if available. Use the attenuator when measured optical power approaches or exceeds receiver specifications, or when you need to equalize power levels between channels. Avoid excessive bending or mechanical stress on the inline housing and connectors to maintain optical performance.
