Optisk dæmper CBO SFA23BK12 singlemode ST simplex 12 dB

Optical Attenuator CBO SFA23BK12 Singlemode ST Simplex 12 dB is a passive inline device designed for singlemode fiber networks. It provides a fixed attenuation of 12 dB via an ST simplex connector, allowing controlled reduction of optical power between transmitters and receivers. The attenuator is intended for installation in fiber links where signal level adjustment is necessary to prevent photodetector saturation, to balance link budgets or to emulate real-world link loss during testing and maintenance.

Advantages

The attenuator offers predictable, stable optical loss with a fixed 12 dB value and a compact ST simplex form factor compatible with equipment using ST connectors. Its passive design requires no power and delivers low back reflection and consistent attenuation across a singlemode wavelength range. The small footprint and rugged housing make it suitable for use in lab environments, field installations and test benches where space and connector compatibility matter.

Suitable for

• Reducing optical signal power to prevent receiver overload
• Balancing link budgets in singlemode fiber installations
• Laboratory testing and characterization of optical equipment
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of telecom and data networks

Key specifications

• Fiber type: singlemode
• Connector type: ST simplex
• Attenuation: fixed 12 dB
• Device type: passive inline attenuator
• Typical application: optical power reduction and link loss emulation

How to use

Insert the ST simplex connector of the attenuator between the transmitting and receiving optical devices, ensuring clean, properly seated connectors to minimize additional loss. Verify connector endfaces are clean before mating. Once installed, the device provides a fixed 12 dB reduction of optical power; no configuration or power supply is required. For temporary measurements, mount the attenuator into the test lead or patch panel as needed and remove or replace it when adjusting link power or completing tests.

Recommendations

For reliable performance, inspect and clean fiber endfaces before use and avoid exceeding the optical power rating of connected equipment. Store the attenuator in a dust-free environment when not in use and avoid exposing it to excessive mechanical stress. Use this attenuator with compatible singlemode ST connectors and verify optical power levels with a calibrated power meter after installation to confirm intended attenuation.
