Fiberoptisk transceivermodul PLANET MGB-SX

The PLANET MGB-SX is a Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) fiber optic transceiver module designed for high-performance integrated duplex data links over optical fiber. Compliant with the SFP Multisource Agreement (MSA) and hot-pluggable, it supports a maximum data transfer rate of 1250 Mbit/s, operates at an 850 nm wavelength, and uses a compact metallic enclosure with a 3.3 V supply for compatibility with SFP ports in networking equipment.

Advantages

The MGB-SX module provides easy hot-pluggable installation into SFP MSA-compliant ports without interrupting host operation and is compatible with PLANET devices that accept SFP mini-GBIC modules. Its design supports short-range Gigabit Ethernet links over multimode fiber and offers reliable electrical and mechanical compatibility with standard SFP interfaces.

Suitable for

• Short-range Gigabit Ethernet connections over multimode fiber (100–550 m depending on fiber type)
• Expansion or replacement of SFP ports in switches, routers and media converters
• Industrial and commercial networking equipment that requires SFP compatibility

Key specifications

• Interface type: SFP
• Maximum data transfer rate: 1250 Mbit/s
• Wavelength: 850 nm
• Product colour: Metallic
• Input voltage: 3.3 V
• Form factor: Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP), hot-pluggable

How to use

Insert the MGB-SX transceiver into an available SFP slot on a compatible switch, router or media converter until it clicks into place. Connect the multimode fiber using the appropriate LC connector and verify link/activity LEDs on the host device. No driver installation is required for standard SFP ports; power is provided through the host device’s 3.3 V SFP interface.

Recommendations

Use multimode fiber with appropriate core size for the desired distance and follow manufacturer guidelines for fiber type and connector polishing. Avoid handling the optical interfaces directly and keep dust caps on when not in use to maintain optical performance.
