Mikrofon Beyerdynamic M 201

The Beyerdynamic M 201 is a dynamic instrument microphone engineered to capture precise and detailed audio from a variety of sound sources. Its rugged construction and tailored frequency response make it suitable for both studio and live environments where clarity and durability are required. The microphone's high sensitivity and low self-noise support accurate reproduction of instruments while resisting handling and stage conditions.

Advantages

The microphone provides focused sound capture with a frequency response optimized for instruments, enabling clear midrange detail and controlled high-frequency presence. Its robust metal housing and reliable dynamic capsule design ensure long-term durability and consistent performance under frequent use. The low self-noise and good off-axis rejection help minimize background interference, allowing engineers and musicians to achieve clean recordings and live mixes.

Suitable for

• Close-miking of acoustic and electric guitars
• Snare drums and percussion
• Brass and woodwind instruments
• Stage and rehearsal use where durable microphones are needed

Key specifications

• Type: Dynamic instrument microphone
• Frequency response: Tailored for detailed instrument reproduction
• Polar pattern: Focused cardioid/uni-directional characteristics for good off-axis rejection
• Construction: Robust metal housing designed for stage and studio use
• Noise: Low self-noise suitable for instrument capture

How to use

Position the microphone close to the sound source for best results: near the rim or head for snare drums, a few centimeters from a guitar amplifier cone or acoustic guitar soundhole, or oriented toward the bell for brass instruments. Use a secure stand or clip to minimize handling noise and maintain consistent placement. Connect to a microphone preamplifier or mixing console using a standard balanced microphone cable and adjust gain to avoid clipping while preserving transient detail.

Recommendations

For live setups, place the microphone to favor the instrument's direct sound and experiment with small positional changes to find the optimal balance between clarity and warmth. In studio applications, combine close placement with room microphones if a more ambient sound is desired. Regularly inspect the grille and capsule area for debris and secure mounts to ensure reliable performance.
