Stemmejern Bahco 424P-4

The Bahco 424P-4 paring chisel has a 4 mm cutting edge and a 14 cm working length. Manufactured from high-quality steel with a rubberised handle, this chisel is intended for precision woodworking tasks that require fine control and durability. Its total length of 266 mm provides a comfortable grip and stable handling for detailed paring and shaping work.

Advantages

The rubberised handle improves grip and reduces slipping during use, while the hardened steel blade maintains sharpness for accurate paring. The combination of a narrow 4 mm edge and a long working length enables controlled, fine cuts and precise removal of thin wood shavings. The overall construction balances strength with maneuverability for repetitive detail work.

Suitable for

• Fine paring and trimming of joinery and fitted parts
• Detail shaping and cleaning narrow grooves or shoulders
• Furniture restoration and delicate wood finishing
• Hobbyist and professional precision woodworking tasks

Key specifications

• Cutting edge width: 4 mm
• Working length (blade): 140 mm
• Total length: 266 mm
• Blade material: high-quality hardened steel
• Handle: rubberised for improved grip

How to use

Secure the workpiece and support it to prevent movement. Use the paring chisel with controlled, long strokes away from your body for precise shaving and trimming; for very fine work, pare with the bevel side down or up depending on the cut and visibility required. Keep consistent angle and pressure to avoid digging in, and withdraw thin layers of material until the desired fit or finish is achieved. Maintain a firm but comfortable grip on the rubberised handle to control the blade during delicate operations.

Recommendations

Keep the blade regularly honed and strop to preserve the 4 mm cutting edge. Store in a dry place and protect the edge with a cover or roll to prevent damage. Wear appropriate hand protection when necessary and work with the correct posture to ensure safe, accurate paring.
