Strømkabelskærer Knipex StepCut sort blå rød

The Knipex StepCut Power Cable Cutter is a compact hand tool engineered for cutting power and multi-core cables with precision. Designed for a maximum cable diameter of 15 mm and a copper cutting capacity of up to 50 mm², the tool balances cutting performance with low weight. At approximately 240 g and 160 mm in length, this power cable cutter is easy to handle in confined spaces and suitable for repetitive use in installation and maintenance tasks. The tool's surface combines black, blue and red finishes, reflecting Knipex's practical design approach.

Advantages

The cutter's small form factor and light weight reduce operator fatigue during prolonged use while maintaining the leverage needed for clean cuts through copper conductors up to 50 mm². Its blade geometry and precise cutting edge minimize deformation of the conductor and ensure reliable, repeatable results. The robust construction provides longevity under regular use, and the color-coded housing improves visibility on work sites.

Suitable for

• Cutting single and multi-core power cables up to 15 mm diameter
• Electrical installation and maintenance work in residential and commercial settings
• Field service work where a compact, lightweight cutter is required
• DIY electrical projects that require precise cable end preparation

Key specifications

• Maximum cable diameter: 15 mm
• Copper cutting capacity: up to 50 mm²
• Weight: approx. 0.24 kg
• Overall length / depth: 160 mm
• Colors: black, blue, red
• Tool type: manual power cable cutter

How to use

Position the cable between the cutting blades at the required cutting point, ensuring the conductor is aligned for a straight cut. Squeeze the handles with steady pressure until the blade fully severs the cable. For larger diameter or multi-core cables, make sure the cable lies flat in the cutting channel to avoid slippage. After cutting, inspect the conductor end for any necessary deburring or trimming before further termination or crimping.

Recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves when cutting live or potentially energized cables and always verify circuits are de-energized before cutting. Store the tool in a dry place and periodically check the cutting edge for wear; sharpen or replace the tool when cuts become less clean.
