Fiberkabel Helos 2 m OM4 LC/ST

The Helos 2m OM4 fibre optic cable is a 2-metre multimode patch cable with a 50 µm core diameter designed for full-duplex data transmission. Fitted with an LC connector on one end and a dual ST connector on the other, this cable supports high-bandwidth links and is suitable for InfiniBand and other high-speed networking standards. Its OM4 graded multimode core improves modal bandwidth and extends reach compared with lower-grade multimode fibres, making it suitable for modern data centre and enterprise cabling installations.

Advantages

The cable provides consistent high-speed performance for short- to medium-range multimode connections thanks to the OM4 fibre specification. The combination of LC and dual ST connectors offers flexible interoperability with equipment that uses different port types. With a 2-metre length and full-duplex configuration, the cable is ready for immediate deployment in server rooms and switch-to-switch links, delivering stable signal integrity and low insertion loss when properly installed.

Suitable for

• InfiniBand interconnects in high-performance computing environments
• Data centre patching between active devices and fibre panels
• Server-to-switch and switch-to-switch connections within racks
• Enterprise backbone links where OM4 multimode is specified

Key specifications

• Fibre type: OM4 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Length: 2 metres
• Configuration: full duplex
• Connector A: LC single
• Connector B: ST dual
• Typical applications: high-bandwidth multimode links and InfiniBand

How to use

Connect the LC end to the LC-compatible port on your device and the dual ST end to the corresponding ST ports on the opposite device or patch panel, ensuring correct polarity for full-duplex operation. Handle the fibre gently to avoid tight bends and protect connector endfaces from contamination by keeping dust caps on until installation and cleaning connectors with appropriate fibre cleaning tools if required. Verify link status and run standard optical tests or diagnostics to confirm signal levels and link integrity after installation.

Recommendations

Store and route the cable to maintain minimum bend radius specified for multimode fibre, avoid sharp bends or kinks, and use labelled patching in data centre environments to simplify maintenance. For optimal performance in critical links, ensure connectors are clean and use rated transceivers and equipment configured for OM4 multimode operation.
